Assignment 5: NAGIOS Core [OPTIONAL]

Installation and configuration of remote monitoring tools: NAGIOS Core

1. Installation of the Nagios core service (1): Install and configure as a global monitoring and warning tool from the Nagios source and keep in mind the following aspects:

   • Use the sources:

     • Nagios core: -->https://github.com/NagiosEnterprises/nagioscore/archive/nagios-4.4.6.tar.gz

     • Nagios plugins: -->https://github.com/nagios-plugins/nagios-plugins.git

   • Prepare the compilation to use apache server

   • Nagios user/password:

     • user: nagiosadmin

     • password: nagios

2. Configuration:

   • Define the Nagios network with these client hosts:

     • server-01

     • server-03

     • server-04 (monitor)

     • server-05

   • Associated service configuration for each host:

     • server-01:

       1. ping

       2. SSH

       3. DHCP

       4. DNS

     • server-03:

       1. SSH

       2. ping

     • server-04/monitor:

       1. ping

       2. SSH

       3. HTTP

       4. defaults: --> Local disks checking (free space) --> System total processes (number of) checking

     • server-05:

       1. ping

       2. SSH

       3. SMTP

       4. IMAP
